What is your question?
"Check charging system" error comes on while slowing, braking or coasting. Today, while accelerating, radio and instrument panel turned off twice. Alternator is less than a year old, but tested, and it was at 14.2. Any ideas?

Question is, what is alternator output when indicator says there's a problem? .. Does dash volt meter show low charge rate at that time? .. Intermittent failures are very possible! Where was the replacement alternator purchased?
The problem is that I can't test the alternator while driving down the road, and as soon as I park it, the indicator goes away... The new alternator and battery were purchased in December 2014 from NAPA.... Is that what you were asking?
The 2003 Navigator does not have a dash volt meter.
Until the charging system can be tested at the time a failure indication is present... Then it can't BE tested properly! .. A professional scanner can be used to catch it acting up and view alt status//battery voltage at that time... Good luck.
