What is your question?
. This leak had my oil down by almost 2 quarts. While driving this low oil situation caused my VSA lamp, check engine lamp and my TMS lamp to come on. But my oil pressure lamp never came on. Is there something odd about this oil pan's attachment? Why didn't the oil pressure lamp light up as that was the issue then. What caused my vehicle to have a leak after my last oil change that does not go away now?
What makes this problem better or worse?
running or off it still leaks
How long has your 2007 Honda CR-V had this problem?
two maybe three weeks
I'm friends with ther owner. After visiting with them I found that they just finished getting an oil change at the same joint for years. The owner is right on time with oil changes, sometimes early when trips arrive. The employees at this lube joint said the threads on the pan are nearly wore out. I visually inspected the vehicle and found that the leak was coming from the drain plug. Purchased a new drain plug and discovered that the original size plug it calls for doesn't fit at all. So I advised them to purchase a new oil pan. Now I'm about to replace ther oil pan, please advise. Got any tips?
You see that’s exactly why I suggested having this inspected by qualified personnel - threads in the ‘oil pan’ for drain plug can easily be re-threaded using the correct tap and a new drain plug with matching threads installed - problem fixed!! (This heavy aluminum oil pan has plenty of surface area (meat) for this repair)
Oil pan replacement is certainly one option - however one has to consider the possibility of creating a leak elsewhere plus the expenditures to do the replacement.. Good luck to y’all..!
â–ªï¸ I really hope you will consider this repair option: â–ªï¸ https://www.amazon.com/Drain-Thread-Repair-Screws-Rethread/dp/B01MEFKNX4 It will be a permanent repair that will last the lifetime of the engine .. What happens to the original drain plug is it gets over torqued every time the oil is changed .. This is true even with some mechanics that just have got to put that little extra pull on the wrench - ‘some’ are guilty of using an impact wrench! I just don’t think oil pan replacement is necessary at all to properly FIX this issue..
