was driveing and got a slight shake around 55 for a month then i had the tranny shift hard into first and ran fine shifted at about 2300 rpms ran fine in high gears not sure if the computer reset i heard that can happen. it made a wineing noise towdars the driverside back of moter. drove it to store the check light came on said tranny shift solioned drove fine for two weeks then went to store and parked and came out and would not go in gear any help would be appricated. just got new house and laid of 3 weeks later my only car. tranny fluid smelt burnt a little but no metal flakes or peices . when putting in gear the metal shifter moves under the hood. please help desperate

Suspect failed torque converter... Pretty common for the splines to strip out in center of converter... It is a slight possibility the pump shaft has failed which can be fixed without transmission removal... Hope it's something more like that!.. If converter has failed, trans got to come out... Mechanic that's familiar with this problem should be able to tell without much trouble. Good luck!
