Car starts but does not move in drive or reverse or L1/L2... any ideas?

Absolutely no noise when it happened and no noise now. Just a smooth shift in and out of each gear. Are there any fuses that have any control over the transmission?

Either you are low or out of trans fluid, which can cause this, or there is a transmission failure. If it was a pressure plate issue you would have heard it. when the plate goes, at least in my experience, it more or less breaks to pieces. I don't want to use a scary word like "explodes" but it does seriously break to pieces. So check the fluid levels, if the level is good,I think the tranny is done. I'm sorry to say. The only other possibility is that your shifter cable (link between shifter and trans) has broke. This would be better technically but either way you are going to need to have it towed to a shop.

Haven't checked the fluid, but yes it does hold in park.

Was thinking an axle shaft may have became dislodged from the transaxle... If park still works... That's not it... You need a good transmission mechanic to check it out... Quite a few possibilities!! Too many to mention OR guess at online!!!

Have the mechanic check for a broken or stripped trans pump shaft as that will cause this problem and I have seen this before!... It IS replaceable WITHOUT transaxle removal.!!!.. It's just a possibility that may get overlooked..

Thanks again... my brother mentioned the possibility of a tranny fluid pump as well. He also said that most shops will not replace of repair them; they would rather do tranny job instead.
