What is your question?
Was rear-ended and had to have the left tail light completely replaced. When car was returned to me 2 weeks later, I noticed that the interior map lights weren't working. I took it to a Honda service center, & bought the bulb, but when the technician helping me replaced the bulb, this didn't fix the problem. He assessed there must be a short circuit. I called another Honda to find out if the tail light replacement could have anything to do with the interior light problem and was told no. It's going to cost $150-200 to get this fixed! I've never had this problem with any other car I've owned over the last 40 years. But this 2009 model has had problems from the beginning. Brakes had to be replaced 2-3 times within first 2 years, weird scratches in paint by the door handles, faux leather on center arm rest peeled off, and now there are bubbles in the silver on the door handles! Also have the airbag problem now! Just not the usual quality product Honda usually provides. Based on this, doubt I'll ever buy Honda again.

so,the map lights were working AFTER you got rear ended, but not working after tail light replacement.why replace the bulb, was it blown?
I'm 99% positive the map lights were working before and after the accident, pre-repair. When I went to Honda and told them about the map light problem, they said most likely it was just the bulb b/c the right side didn't work at all. However, the left light only works if I turn it on (it won't come on when I open my door). All this seems to point to a circuit board problem I've been told. I just want to figure out if it could have anything to do with the accident or the tail light replacement b/c then the insurance could pay for this repair.
well, good luck. hopefully the insurance company will pay for it. one last thing to check is to make sure the dome light switch is set to door and not off, which i'm sure that's been checked already?
Thanks. Do you know if the map lights electronics could be connected to the damage to the tail light and/or the replacement of the tail light? Do you know someone that might be an electronics specialist in this area, other than the Honda service people? Thanks.
FIRST,are you sure that one of the door jamb/ajar switches is/are not stuck in the closed position? google this part number for a picture of the switch.. Part # 18-1115..or this number if built in Japan> Part # S51051...these switches are cheap and easy to replace! or you could spray wd-40 on it/them ,open and close the door(s) several times..if the switch is sticking, this should free it up.common problem on ALL vehicles!
Thanks so much for your help. I'll definitely check that out.
you're welcome..post findings.
