What is your question?
My u341e transmission burnt out some bearings and warped 2-3 friction plates and needs to be repaired or replaced. I went to junkyard and found a 2012 toyota with a u340e transmission, I found out that they both use same rebuild kits. So can I swap out the u341e for the u340e?
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's better to have a real mechanic do the work on it.
How long has your 2002 Toyota Celica had this problem?
Two weeks

I would avoid any situation where transmission replacement is not "like for like". In this case, we have 10 model years of difference. It's reasonable to expect that even though internal components use the same parts in a rebuild kit, the electronic portion is most likely completely different. Vehicles have come a long way in that ten year period of time in technological advances. The engine's processor -- even if the wiring plugs in, which it probably won't -- probably will not be able to communicate with the replacement transmission. Agree with Pushrod on the electronics -- I would have to say that this endeavor is probably a bad idea.
The ‘electronics’ is where you have to be careful when replacing one with the other.
