can i just replace the clutch on the air conditioner compressor?

Yes , but is it the outer bearing(nose) or inner guts of compressor , that won't allow you to turn it? If the compressor locked up/ imploded internally , the clutch won't fix it. Neither will replacing just the compressor. You need to determine the CAUSE and amount of damage , before buying parts! otherwise could turn into a big drawn out headache!
