With no keys in the ignition (and opening a door to display the electronics on the dash), a loud amplified knocking noise happens from behind the radio...at least that's my guess. I pulled the amp fuse out and the noise will stop, but of course no radio or other interior noise happens either. Is this an amp issue, or something else?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Pulling the amp fuse makes the problem go away, need to

Thanks for replying, pushrod. The noise occurs as soon as I open the driver door. Turning the key in the ignition the noise is still on and will goes away after about 10 seconds. So the problem appears to be independent of the engine running. It is a loud, amplified sounding knock...that appears to be audio related. Center of the dash it appears to be coming from. Wondering if a problem with center speaker or amp?
Common for HVAC baffling (doors) actuators to make the same noise and it would be emanating from same location .. However opening door would be irrelevant.
The reason I suggested turning engine off and waiting *without doing anything else*
is to see 'IF' same noise occurred in due time and you were just assuming opening the door was some-how related..
This is going to require *hands-on* evaluation - likely by mechanic at local auto repair facility.. I can't imagine what it could be other than HVAC related.
Good luck!
The amplified noise was caused by water in the amp. I ordered a repacement amp. As for the source of the water - the Traverse gets water in the door latches...unlock them, and drain the water periodically.

I should also mention there is no starting, driving, or otherwise engine related issue with this noise.
