What is your question?
I called them and they said that they could not have ruined the lights on the steering wheel because they do not go near it. So they have to remove the center of the steering wheel and then remove the air bag and tighten or replace the bolt but there is no way they could have ruined the lights. They worked prior to them messing around with my 2013 mkz. They said they will now charge me a diagnostic fee to see what's wrong with it.
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hello, consult the service manager at the repair facility you selected -- there is likely a direct correlation to the power to those buttons in the steering wheel area. All steering wheel components derive power from the sliding contact / clock spring in that area. Although not for certain, it is plausible the concern is related to recent service.
