I've had this car since November 2007 and I've put a good 50k miles on it since I bought it at 42k miles. Just before 80,000 she wouldn't start one morning, had to be towed to my mechanic who couldn't fix it, took it to the dealer and it would up being an issue with the anti theft sensor that receives a signal from the chip in the key, it wasn't recognising it. Saved $800 by having it be covered under the 80k warranty.

Just hit 90k and started having the check engine light come on. Not sure what the issue is, but my mechanic says it will be around $1400 to fix, ouch.

I also had the same problem with water leaking into the car, but mine was in the rear drivers side floor in the back seat and in the bottom of the trunk. Havent gotten it fixed but I also say it should be a recall issue.

I just got this car and didn't pay much for it... took the bumper covers and trim off and painted them. It's a cute little die hard! Lots of them in the junk yard for parts too. Mine is the super basic model with no a/c or power anything, 5 speed manual. It gets 40 mpg!!! And it loves to go! I have to replace the timing belt soon but that's the only thing. I put in a new guage cluster with a tach - love it! Had a spare radio and put that in no problem - I like this little cutie. Nice, cheap, nimble, and sips the gas! :)

Bought this car used from a private seller have had it for a little while now and has not caused me any sort of problem. I love it great on gas! the only problem now is that the a/c clutch just went out. But that is the only problem i have had since i bought it. I will defintely get another neon after this one.

wife's car for work. O2 sensor problems and computer problems at 80K miles.

Other than that it holds up well.

I bought this car brand new and have never had a problem with it. It handles well and is good on gas.

I bought this car second-hand with 16K miles on it. I got 191K total miles on it before the timing belt gave out and I had to replace the engine. No other major repairs to list - this car has been awesome! I have run a newspaper route for the last six years - seven days a week and about 80 miles per day. Other than wearing out tires and brakes a bit faster than the average driver, this car is like the Times of cars - takes a lickin' n keeps on tickin'! When it comes time to replace my car, I'll be looking for another used Neon.

I have had problems with this car since I got it. I have had issues with the gasoline mixing with the oil in the engine compartment. The car runs, but it does have a miss at times. The O2 sensor is the problem it keeps going out, but I don't know what is causing it to go out.

2005 Dodge Neon

I have enjoyed my Neon since I bought it new in 2005. The 2 main complaints I have are that the brakes squeal from time to time and I was told that this is normal; and, when there is a heavy rain water puddles inside the passenger front floor. I was told by the dealer repair manager that this is caused from the tail light seals wearing out. He said that water seeps in and follows a channel into the front passenger floor.
The repair cost was high and I did not choose to have it done, because I thought it should not have happened to begin with or at the very least, it should have been a recall to have been repaired at no cost.
