wont shift into 5th or 6th

What is your question?

The gear shift doesn't seem to be going far enough over to engage into 5th or 6th gear. When I try to shift up, it seems to judt shift back into 3rd and 4th gear

What makes this problem better or worse?

Won't shift up any time

How long has your 2008 Mini Cooper had this problem?

Just bought car. Was like that when I bought it
