Wipers won't retract

(2001 Pontiac Montana)
in Bismarck, ND on July 11, 2011
When shutting down the wipers, the wipers will not retract but park on the windshield like goal posts. Working the switch from on/off, the wipers will finally go to the bottom of the windshield but still on the glass.
What could be the problem? Could the switch be the problem? Could the pulse board be the problem? Could the wiper motor be the problem?

sometimes the park mechanism either breaks or most commonly gets full of debris.Follow the linkage under the hood its on the passenger side and may still have a plastic cover over it.Remove the small plastic cover clean off mechanism and lube it.Most of time it will start parking again.gl ed
