After a snow I went to use my wipers and the one on the left would not work. A little while later it came on and went all the way to the left and laid on mirror. Now it doesn't work at all.

The windshield wiper arms on your 2004 Cadillac Deville are held onto a splined shaft with a locking nut. I would suspect the nut has come loose on the failed side. You say left but I think you mean passenger side which would be considered the right side. If you remove the cover and nut the wiper are should come off of the transmission. Clean the splines with a wire brush to remove any debris. With the wipers in the park position reinstall the arm to match the one on the good side and secure the lock nut. If the wiper arm is secure on the transmission and still does not work correctly the fault may lie with the linkage under the cowl.
