Why will my car not crank?

what happens when you try jump starting it? if the same results,get a helper to turn the key to the cranking position while you check the small wire on the starter solenoid for signal voltage with a volt meter. if no power on that small wire,suspect the ignition switch is bad. if you have power on the small wire with the switch in the cranking position,suspect the starter motor is bad.
