I'm at work so my car has been off for a while 3 to 4 hours. I come outside for brake and as soon as I start it my temp gauge goes straight to the quarter mark between cold and normal
What makes this problem better or worse?
Idk that's why I'm asking a mechanic
How long has your 2008 Buick Lucerne had this problem?
it started after I came to work.

The engine coolant will not automatically cool to "cold" temperature when sitting 3 hours. Like any fluid, it will retain heat for a period of time. The engine and cooling system is quite insulated. I don't think this indicates a problem of any kind.
