What is your question?
My 2010 dodge journey overheated out of nowhere today. I went to a friend's, he popped the hood and seen that my reservoir was bone dry(I constantly check my fluids). He let it sit then filled it up. I barely made it a mile down the road and it started getting hot again. I only live about 5 minutes from where it began so I was trying to get it home. I was like 2 mi from my house then all of a sudden it went all the way over past hot and my check engine light came on so I pulled over and called a tow truck. The water reservoir was still full, no smoke was coming from anywhere, and no water was spraying out of anywhere. What could this be?

I'm sorry, but it's honestly all a guess until testing is performed. You could even have an air pocket in your cooling system from having been "empty" in the reservoir and having added coolant. Did you purge the air when you filled it? You could have an engine thermostat sticking, a water pump not working effectively, a cooling fan concern, an internal engine concern... You'll need to seek some professional guidance local to you. Good luck!
