What is your question?
vehicle intermittently jerks when accelerating/shifting. Once it starts jerking, it won't stop until I pull over and restart the car. Is something wrong with the car's computer or maybe it has a defective seal for the transmission fluid?
What makes this problem better or worse?
re-starting the car
How long has your 2017 Acura RDX had this problem?
almost a year

Hello, an intermittent thing that is corrected by restarting the vehicle is typically not an internal mechanical concern like a seal of some sort. Typically, it's something commanded from data received by the various control modules. I would say this is atypical of this vehicle and should be checked out before driving further. Unless you have an abnormally high amount of mileage for this vehicle for a 2017 model, you should still have some powertrain warranty coverage -- 5 years / 60,000 miles whichever comes first. See your local Acura dealership for what will hopefully be an in-warranty diagnosis and repair. You may have to authorize diagnostic testing first initially, but I suspect you may find the vehicle has coverage.
I have this same problem with my 2014 Acura RDX. My vehicle now has 105,000 miles, but I took my vehicle to the Acura dealership when it was still under warranty. After several trips to the dealership, several where they could not replicate the problem, they finally agreed there was a problem. The dealership told me Honda was aware of the problem but does not have a resolution and sent me home. My vehicle has continued to have this problem off and on just as the owner of the 2017 model described.
