Why do my rear air shocks with automatic level control keep failing ?

(2001 Buick LeSabre)
2001 Buick, La Sabre with automatic level control. The rear shocks were replaced for stiffness and bad ride. 6 months later they are looking bad again. The rear of the car bounces going down the road and rides ruff. It is like the shocks are charged to much. Anyone seen this before?

My trub was the air line from the pump to the shocks had a leak. shocks were replaced but same trub. Advance Auto carries 2 units: 1 costs about $13 and the other costs about $20. Will be changing mine very soon. Pump is unplugged at this time
