Whining noise coming from engine.

(1995 Chevrolet Caprice)
in Mount Dora, FL on April 12, 2010
When I accelerate normally a whining noise comes from the engine. I listened in on the engine and it sounds to me its coming from the large pulley on the bottom immediate right of the alternator just above the belt tensioner. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

could either be the power steering pump or alternator, or possible the hydraulic tensioner. I'm having the same problem in a 07 chevy aveo

Well you have probably figured it out by now but 90% chance its the water pump about to give out.
