I have a 2002 mercury sable. The fuel pump driver module is on the passenger side of the car behind the rear seat. You have to remove the four bolts holding the back of the seat. Then on the passenger side you will see a black piece of trim. You can slide it off. It is held by two plastic clips. You will then see two 10mm nuts holding the fuel pump driver module. You will have to pull the trunk liner over slightly to remove the FPDM. It makes you wonder why Ford put it in such an obscure place.

it is part of the fuel pump itself. it is not external.
