NO check engine light but car stutters, jerks when slowing, accelerating

When driving in heavy traffic having to stop, start generally at lower speeds 10- 55 mph car stutters, jerks like brakes are catching then again when accelerating until driving at consistent speed. No check engine or warning lights showing
