Hello,
Are you talking about the air conditioning compressor, or do you have air suspension installed?
Where is the rattle? Does it increase with road speed or engine speed?
For the estimate, click on our estimator link, and enter a/c compresort plus your vehicle and zip code. Sorry, I can't post a link. It will give you a real estimate's that you can use.
To disconnect it, use a soft (for sewing) tape measure, wrap it around all pulleys except the A/c compressor, and that is the length belt you need. Make sure the belt routing will be correct by seeing if the tape measure bumps anything. Also make sure the back (smooth) part of the belt is always the part that goes. across the idler pulleys.
It will not hurt anything for the compressor to be disconnected, but.... no A/c...
The other part is that the rattle could just be the compressir clutch, in which case the technician will advise to replace the clutch or whole compressor.
Yes, the air conditioner compressor. Im thinking of having the ac disconnected all together. The sound is there all the time now.
