what is the function of the intake manifold

Two questions really here - One, the intake manifold distributes metered air to the cylinders of the engine. Two - For stalling, look for vacuum leaks (any hoses unplugged? Cracked? Leaking?), an air tube or air box leak causing unmetered air to get into the engine or an issue with the idle air control valve possibly sticking.
