I had my alternator replaced and the mechanic said it needs to replace the battery sensor also..

Hello, You can actually check this yourself, VERY easily! Look under the hood, there is a fuse box with a black lid next to the battery. Remove the cover, and check the 7.5 amp fuse. If there are more than one just check all of the 7.5 amp fuses. There are spare fuses in one of the fuse boxes, and you just have to replace it if the wire visible from the side of the fuse is broken. That normally solves that battery sensor issue, but, if the sensor has failed, it is not expensive or hard to fix. Your warranty should cover the repair if the sensor is bad.
