Before the car was overheating so I put anti-freeze in and put oil in. now it is still overheating-now that I took out the thermostat it is still overheating

Is the cooling fan operating properly? How is the engine running, do you see white smoke from the tailpipe (signs of a blown headgasket)? How is the condition of the coolant?
it would cook the motor without a thermostat. have it checked at a shop as to why it is overheating. Roy
Roy, I am sorry, but in my opinion, the above answer is incorrect! Removing the thermostat will allow the maximum amount of coolant to flow through the engine, providing maximum cooling effect. That will NOT "cook" the motor! In cold climate running the engine without the thermostat, the engine will never reach normal operating temperature. Regards, John Chalotay
