After replaceing the fuel pump, it still won't start.. but they were pressing the button over and over.. Could it be messed up?

what do you mean by *they* kept pressing the button over and over, why? if it tripped, then the button will pop up and all you need to do is push it back down until it clicks/stays down.it's rare for the inertia switch to fail, but possible. can you hear the fuel pump come on for 2 seconds when the key is turned to ON? did you put the fuel pump fuse back in after changing the fuel pump? is the fuel pump fuse blown, fuse position #26 under hood fuse box? fuel pump relay good, position #48 under hood fuse box? if you have power on the two wires at the inertia going in and going out each time the key is turned to on,then the fuse and relay are ok.
Thank you for the reply.. as I was trying to start the car, after replaceing the fuel pump someone got in and pressed the inertia switch like 10 times in a row.. I realize it was only supposed to be pressed once.. I guess she didn't know that. The switch was pressed numerous times and it feels like like it just pops right back up it doesn't stay down and I cannot hear the pump coming on
We have checked the fuses also
well,if that happened and now the button won't stay down and pops right back up,sounds like the inertia switch/spring loaded has broken and will need replacing.when it pops back up,you won't hear the fuel pump come on because that switch will cut the power off going to the fuel pump when tripped. if you were just replacing the fuel pump because it was bad,the inertia switch should not be a factor unless you were in a wreck, hit pot hole or got bumped hard by another vehicle and that tripped it.
