the car was idling rough and then stalled wouldn't hardly turn over. took car to dealer and they say the camshaft actuator needed to be replaced at a cost of $2500!!!

I thought the 4.6L had actuator, I don't remember camshaft actuators on a 3.6L. Variable valve timing solenoid, and sensors. Maybe someone else will straighten me out, but you might get a second opinion.
Yes they have 4, 2 are intake and 2 are exhaust. Those parts run around $170 a piece. They will have to practically take ur engine apart so that price u was quoted is about rite! I would tell them to go ahead and put another timing chain kit on there while they're at it, spend the couple $100 bucks extra for that and save u the headache if ur gonna do it.
