WHAT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF ALL FORWARD & REVERSE GEARS WHILE DRIVING DOWN X-WAY?

WIFE LOST ALL FORWARD GEARS & REVERSE WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AT 70 MPH. FLUID IS GOOD. DISCONNECTED BATTERY AND RECONNECTED BATTERY WITH NO CHANGE.

Sounds like the transmission went away, these use a CVT type of transmission, which is a Constantly Variable Transmission, Unfortunately, this type of transmission has yet to become real reliable. I have seen them go out on the newer Audi and Nissan vehicles.
