What causes a car to not start only when it's raining or wet?

The car will start and run fine on a dry day, but on rainy or even just dewy days it won't even crank. When I turn the key to on, all the lights, radio, a/c, etc comes on, but when I turn it over everything goes off and then nothing. This just started about a month or so ago. Once it dries out the car will fire right up with no problems. I thought it was only when water was splashing up under the car, but it also seems to be when the car is parked overnight and there's few or high humidity the next morning.
What makes this problem better or worse?
