From time to time I see little light brown spots in my oil. The engine is not overheating and there is no oil in the radiator resevior. Could the problem be something besides a head gasket leaking?

When you say spot, are they greenish? if so, then that is coolant. Why not change your oil and really inspect it in the drain pan?? That should give you a more conclusive answer.
The spots are colored a light brown. I am not using any coolant and the engine is not heating up. I changed the oil and examined it and there were no spots in it. It looked just like normal used oil. Thank you for your response.
