What is your question?
This question has recently been posted - here's more detail about the problem. Vibration feels like driveline. Comes in at 20-40 mph. fades out, comes back a little at 55 with an oscillating drone. Can feel it slightly at all other speeds. Transmission has been rebuilt (geartrain hand grenaded) by a top notch shop. Transfer case wasn't touched. Supposedly, the vehicle had no vibration before the work was done - can't be verified. Diagnosis pointed to rear driveshaft section - renewed - no change. Front driveshaft section was renewed - no change. Both front axles were renewed "just in case" - no change. Got 3 ASE Certified Master Techs brainstorming on this and we're stumped. No chance of transfer case to transmission misalignment. Wondering if problem could have been installed during rebuild procedure somehow. Have done 3 more of these units in the past 6 months - no problems. Units have correct fluids. Engine RPM is not related - it's all about road speed. Vibration goes away (almost) when the load is off (as in "float"). Vibration can be felt pretty good with a manual downshift - i.e., engine braking loads the driveline and the vibration intensifies. It's definitely not tires, brakes or engine related. Not a noise - it's an actual vibration - just like a bad u-joint. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :o)

Can the vehicle be run on a lift, four wheels of the ground? If it could it would be interesting to see if the problem could be duplicated "in the air". Its hard to comment without being able to drive the vehicle and get an impression. There is a professional service called Identafix. http://www.identifix.com/info/about_us.htm They only deal with professional repair shops. They are in the Minnesota 651-633-8007. Thanks for the reply, Patrick. :o) Can duplicate the problem in the air up to a point. The problem is that we can't load the driveline. Trying to power-brake this thing in the air doesn't work too well. And using a pry bar in various places didn't change the vibration we felt. I.e., trying to move the exhaust system, differential, transfer extension housing, etc., didn't affect the vibration (at 55mph) at all. Our local driveline guy doesn't have the tooling to jig these prop shafts so we're going to try to balance the shaft the old fashion way and see if we can get anywhere. I have Identafix at my disposal - nothing in their current database. If we can't get any further with this, I'll use their pay-for service. I'll probably post on iATN, too, but their archives weren't very specific. One guy replaced the xfer assy but that just doesn't make sense. This is a weird one. I do appreciate the help, though. Thanks again. I'll post a cure if I ever find one. Chippo
