Vehicle won't go forward only reverse

What is your question?

Every now and then when I start my vehicle it has trouble moving forward in D, 3, 2, and L. Yet it reverses just fine. I've in the past temporarily solved the problem by unhooking the battery then hooking it back up but I'm looking for a more permanent solution.
