Vehicle will sputter and hesitate when accelerating from a stop.

Sputters and hesitates when accelerating from a stop. Usually only pops three or four times and then it seems fine. Other drivers have reported it has stalled out. There has also been an issue of the thermostat rising to near-dangerous levels. Car fluids where checked, all where fine, topped off with a bit of oil...problem has not recurred. Front windshield wipers have failed. They are able to moved by hand. If the car is on and the switch engaged, the wiper motor can be heard running.
