(2003 Ford E-250)
in Grand Island, NY on October 06, 2010
The van was in a minor accident. Hit a guard rail. It was driven home but would not turn over the next morning. A clicking noise can be heard near the battery and at the starter. The headlights do not dim when the ingition switch is turn on.

Which area of the vehicle was damaged? Sounds like some kind of issue in the starting system itself, causing high resistance to the starter. A wire could be loose or dislodged (battery cables, etc...) The starter relay could have failed.

Certainly concentrate your investigation at the location of the collision, as there is probably a "smoking gun" to be seen somewhere.
