Your 2003 GMC Envoy does not have a timing belt,it has a timing chain(either engine)and should last the life of the vehicle/engine.You possibly could have a bad,new/reman alternator right out of the box. Take it to Autozone,Advance,or O'Reilly's and get them to test your charging system,it's free.If you end up needing a battery, your Envoy takes a group 78 side post battery>1000 cranking amps>800 Cold cranking amps.takes 30-45 minutes to change the battery,if you've never done this one before. The battery is inside of a cooling box/case under the hood.
