What is your question?
It cranks and sometimes tries to start. Sometimes really rough then dies. It has been sitting for about a month and I started it a couple days ago and let it idle. Did the same yesterday. Today, it won't start. Lift pump? water in fuel? fuel pump problem? Where is the place to hand operate the fuel lift pump? Do I have to get under the truck? I didn't think so. I think it is on the driver side of the engine, but sure is hard to find.

There is a fuel return hose located at the rear of the engine near the right side of the cylinder head. If this hose is leaking, Hard Starting or no start is the result. The fuel transfer pump (fuel lift pump) is located on the left-rear side of the engine cylinder block above the starter motor Fuel System Components. The purpose of the fuel transfer pump is to supply (transfer) a low-pressure fuel source of approximately (25 psi) to the injection pump and fuel filter/water separator from the fuel tank. Here, the low-pressure is raised by the fuel injection pump for operation of the high-pressure fuel injectors. The transfer pump is driven by an eccentric on the engine camshaft that actuates a spring loaded piston within the pump Transfer Pump Operation Check valves within the pump, control direction of fuel flow and prevent fuel bleed-back during engine shut down. If the check valves become unseated during shut down, the fuel will bleed back to the fuel tank and hard starting will result. It may be necessary to prime the lift pump which is very time consuming.
