Have PT Cruiser 2003 Limited Edition. Car has slow transmission fluid leak and would stop shifting when it got dry. Been filling it as it needs it until I can get it fixed. Last time I put in fluid, though, transmission refused to shift. Pcm gives out a 0700 error code which I understand indicates a transmission malfunction without being specific. I was advised to replace the pcm and I did. Car shifted the first day and then it stopped. I exchanged the pcm for another, but the same thing happened. I was then told it could be the body control module except the pt cruiser doesn't have a stand alone bcm. Any ideas?

so,you said "Car has slow transmission fluid leak and would stop shifting when it got dry"...... i assume DRY means NO fluid showing on the stick? i would think if NO fluid in the transmission,then it is probably ruined.take it to AAMCO and see if they still do the FREE scan of the transmission at NO CHARGE,and tell them you ran it dry!
