Transmission won't go into gear?

The 2.2 engine spun a rod bearing. I found an exact replacement with 100 miles. I swapped the engines out. 1st time the convertor slipped out of the Trans. I pulled the motor back out and corrected the convertor. Everything mounted and wired but the transmission will not load up into gear?? Neutral safety was working before echange. Ideas? Did I hurt the convertor 1st time? Is possible electrical?
