Transmission makes a ticking sound. What could it be?

I think its the flex plate but not sure that is what could make that noise.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's worse when engine is hot.
How long has your 2014 Toyota Tacoma had this problem?

Manual or automatic transmission? If manual, could be pressure plate or bearing related. Automatic -- really hard to know without really getting into it with chassis ears and seeing where the concern originates from - perhaps even internally to the transmission. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
