Transmission fluid change ?

What is your question?

I took F-150 truck with 170,000 miles to shop to change transmission fluid. Shop said pan had worn material in it and recommended not to change fluid or filter, to make the transmission last longer, before it will have to be rebuilt. Do you agree / disagree with this advice. Larry B

If they found material in the pan, haven't they already removed the pan, which means the fluid will have to be changed?
