I got a 97 ford f350 with the 5.8 and its 4x4 auto and i think the transmission harness is bad or coroded what transmission is in it is it the saem as my 92 ford f350 wit hte 7.3 diesel it has the e4od can i take that harness and use it its new lasy year the 5.8 tranny shifts good but it had its moments it will shift ahrd and sometime not shift outta second but u shut it off and wait a little while and it shifts but then will kinda shift a lil hard once in a while not all thetime

The 1997 F350 with a 5.8L has the same model transmission - the E4OD. It is indeed different with minor updates, but overall is the same unit. The wiring is likely interchangeable, oddly enough! I've looked at the pins of the connector on the wiring diagram, and they match up wire for wire, 1992 and 1997. Amazing. Not a common happening! The hard shell connector may differ, though, so be aware of that. The other thing is that the OTHER end of the harness (not the transmission side) may differ significantly. Don't forget that 1992 was OBDI and 1997 was OBDII. 1992 is EEC-IV and 1997 is EEC-V. Big differences there. Not sure if the wiring will fix anything or if it will work for you, but good luck!
Well i was going to bring it toa trany shop and a friend said they plug it in and can testeverything and pressure check it im hoping its just corroded or somthing stupid i dont wanna rebuild it ill prolly jsut off teh truck casue i had the tranny built in my 92 7.3 diesel and it is nothing but problems it was rebuilt 5 times and i jsut gave up and got this truck now off to another tranny problem again.
