Tire pressure monitoring systems were made mandatory not to save gas but due to the Ford Explorer roll over/Firestone tire law suits. Any Toyota or Lexus with a full size spare also monitors the spare wheel so make sure the pressure is checked in the spare wheel if it a full size spare.
