timing chain cover

What is your question?

Dealer tells me that there is an oil leak and that I should replace / reseal the front timing cover. How critical is it to do this? How complicated is this repair? Can a regular, i.e., non-dealership do this? How much should it cost?

Richard I looked up your timing cover repair and my book shows 23 hours ( Ouch ) plus the gasket set, But I would get a independent opinion from a local shop as maybe its just a valve cover gasket leaking down and appears to be the timing cover leaking.
