What is your question?
I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S with the 2zz motor. It has a loud noise when running but runs fine. A mechanic told me it is because the timing chain guide broke and the chain is vibrating making the noise. No other problems with the car. It has 150K+ miles on it. I was wondering how much it would cost to replace the timing chain and guides? thanks.

it is a big job, it takes a whole day and costs about $1000. Typically the chains and guides wear out on a Toyota by this mileage unless you use a top synthetic oil and change it every 3000-4000 miles
I have the same sound but is not that loud. I recently changed the guides and the chain tensioner and the sound stopped for a couple weeks and it started again. It cost me $1300. On top of that, I returned to the shop and they replaced the timing chain tensioner again and the sound stopped for the second time. I two weeks the sound returned. The sound comes around the timing chair and the tensioner. I'm starting to wonder that the chain tensioner was not installed properly.
