Where's the best place to get good repairs and affordable prices? I have a hard time believing it costs over $1000 to change out a waterpump and replace a timing belt... please help

I need to believe it. The labor is over 7 hours and it does all day to complete. The cost of the timing belt kit which includes a new tensioner and idler pulley plus water pump and all three belts, plus the coolant is at least $1,000 at any reputable shop..
