What is your question?
i was just told today that i need timing belt repair(whatever that means)because it squeals when idling and that the tear down would cost $450 plus the repair and parts could be as much as $980, seems outrageous to me, a single mom who lives check to check, looking for a reasonable mechanic in Long Beach

a timing belt or driven belts?, the squeals you hear might just be the driven belts only. the recommendation for change timming belts is about 75,000 miles or 5-7 years old. what ever come first...?
Did they remove the drive belts to eliminate the possible accessory belt pulley squeals? With a stethoscope they could pretty much pinpoint the failed pulley or the source of the noise. Zee
