What is your question?
So, I got this very nice 2006 Malibu LS, 3.5L V6 for free, from a friend. Was told it needed a new timing chain guard. It's got a TICK, not a knock but a TICK. The tick stops when you reach 30mph & up. We changed the timing chain & all of its components....still Ticking, replaced all the lifters....still Ticking, tried a stethoscope to see if its a pulley, but couldnt tell any difference, looked for a exhaust leak, but didnt see one (might need look again?). Someone suggested the oil pump the other day, how would I know if the pump is bad? I'm ready to take a sledgehammer to the thing which sucks because it runs great, I mean it will get up & move!! I'd hate to have to scrap it...it's very clean inside & out but the damn TICK has to go. If anyone has any advice I surely would appreciate it.

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Unfortunately, someone has to hear the ticking noise to really be of any help. It's a major guess from sitting at my computer without being able to experience the concern first hand. "We changed the timing chain and all of its components" - who did the work? Are you sure everything was replaced? Ticking noise could be valve train or fuel injectors ticking. It's very vague...
