There is no pattern to it. It is completely random. It happens at any speed, under any driving or climatic condition, any time, any place, sometimes once during a long trip, sometimes several times during a short trip, radio on or off, a/c on or off, heat on or off, windows open or closed.

This was a problem with Audi as well, it was a switch problem but somewhere on an Audi Forum or VW Forum I found an article with pictures and illustrations of the switch and the problem/what to look for.
I too have the same exact issue with this on my 2007 Jetta wolfsburg edition.
I have the same issue with my 2005 VW Jetta it will open and close over and over and over again I have to open it then re-close it and it stays closed.....it happens while I am driving.
Why is VW so F*d up. My sunroof does this, my gas cap light comes on on at random, my trunk light lights up and I can only open it manually and my key chain opener doesn't always work. All started about 1k miles out of warranty. I hate vw!!! I am going to e-mail bomb tyhem and call them nonstop. I would like others to do the same.
