What is your question?
I have a 2017 2wd suburban. Over the past 3 weeks I've had the transmission seem to slip out of gear while at a stop and when I press the gas it just revs the motor, but does not move the vehicle. shifting gears does nothing, reverse and the manual mode do not work either. Usually shutting the vehicle off and then restarting resolves the issue. One time I had to shut off and restart about 10 times to get it to shift into gear. I've replaced the brake light switch, thinking maybe it was a issue with the torque converter being placed in neutral state by a defective switch, but then had the issue happen yesterday when at a stop light. This issue is isolated to when I’m at a stop and very random. I’ve tried to determine any common factors beside the vehicle being stopped. Gears are not slipping while driving. Transmission fluid it clean and no smell of it being burnt. Transmission temp is running in the 165-199 degree range.
What makes this problem better or worse?
issue seems random.
How long has your 2017 Chevrolet Suburban had this problem?

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. Given that you're dealing with an intermittent issue, and it seems to be isolated to when you’re at a stop, it could be related to the transmission control module, valve-body/control solenoid, or the torque converter. These are just some of the possibilities, and the exact cause would need to be determined firsthand. I’d recommend that you have your vehicle diagnosed, if the issue is indeed with the transmission, it has potential to be a complex and potentially expensive repair, so it’s critical to get it right. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck with your vehicle If you have any questions or would like help locating a qualified shop near you, give us a call at (877) 913-1554
