What is your question?
I have a 2000 Saturn ion. Late it stalls when stopping, but then starts up again. Today it stalled at stoplight and has refused to start after many long attempts. The car shakes and sounds like something is rattling when cranking and smells of gas. It getting close to starting but not quite there. I worry about wearing out starter and battery. It’s literally on the side of the road now. It happens more in wet weather
What makes this problem better or worse?
Warm engine, rainy weather
How long has your 2003 Saturn Ion had this problem?
Month

Hello, you could have an air intake or ignition spark issue. If you're smelling fuel and the problem happens more when it's wet, I'd lean towards ignition system. Diagnostic testing must be performed in the area of engine performance, which will absolutely provide a repair direction for you.
